Stitch in Time

March 5, 2013

A couple of weeks ago in the Catch Up post, I mentioned that we’d had a replica oak settle made to allow visitors to have an Armstrong moment in the Dining Room fireplace. This is a photograph of an oil painting, displayed in the Dining Room, showing Armstrong in the inglenook on the settle we’ve replicated.

The settle has been in place since we opened the ground floor for February half term, but it has been without the cushion pad it should have on it, as I was tasked with sewing a cover for it. Given that I have fairly rudimentary sewing skills, this proved a time-consuming challenge which I (thankfully) completed this morning, and hope never to have to repeat.
