Loose Ends

December 13, 2012

The winter closed months are the busiest time for the house team as we have such a short space of time to get the deep cleaning and packing done. It certainly makes you grateful for a couple of weeks off over Christmas!

This week we have tied up loose ends, finishing the small jobs that we haven’t previously had a chance to focus on. Philip and I stripped a scaffolding rig which we had up in the Dining Room to clean the ceiling. We’ve re-hung curtains which came down for cleaning and we’ve managed to pack and clean 3 small rooms which were left until last in case we couldn’t get through the bigger rooms in time.

We also went down to a local pub for Christmas dinner on Tuesday. It is a nice afternoon where almost all staff can get together, one of the few times in the year that all the departments across the property see one another.

Yesterday Paul and Katherine interviewed candidates for seasonal contracts working on the house reception desk next season. I won’t say too much about it other than that the interviews seemed to go well and we have filled all four posts.

I finish for my Christmas holiday tomorrow evening, so there won’t be any updates to the blog until January 2013. I suppose all that is left to say is Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
