Ice Cold

December 7, 2012

We’ve had a little bit of snow this week, not too much – we’re used to much worse – but enough to make getting to and from work “interesting”.

This morning, Amy and I got stuck on a bank into the car park. It’s quite a long, steep bank which looked to be wet as we approached it. By the time we were two thirds of the way up it we realised in was actually a centimetre thick layer of ice. Amy’s car, despite being a Volvo, was having none of it and we were stuck.

Paul, the House Manager came to the rescue, and despite a few pirouettes on the way back down which meant we were rarely facing the direction we wanted to be facing, he expertly got us back to the bottom unharmed. Lesson learned.

I thought it might be nice to share some photographs of Cragside in the snow from the last few winters, because despite it causing journey nightmares, it is really very pretty. Click each image to view it in a larger format.
